Next Council Meeting: July 9, 2013 @ 6:30 pm in the Borough Hall, for General Topics
Beginning January 1, 2013, Waste Management route crews will no longer pick up televisions and computer equipment for disposal. Computer equipment includes laptops, monitors, CPU's, printers, scanners, keyboards, mouses, speakers, cables and battery backups. These items, if placed at the curb, will be left at the curb. This is entirely due to a new law banning the disposal of TV's and computer equipment at transfer stations and landfills.
Households and operators of businessses with fewer than 50 employees have access to free recycling of TV's and computer equipment. More information about electronics recycling service is available from Waste Management's e-cycling Web site at http://wme-cyclesinpa.wm.com/index.jsp or from Pennyslvania D.E.P at www.depweb.state.pa.us. Your county recycling office also may be a source of useful information.
You can also contact Westmoreland Cleanways at 724-836-4129 or visit www.westmorelandcleanways.org. Additional information can be found on the information board in the Borough Office during regular business hours.
FROM THE DESK OF THE SECRETARY:
Don't forget to stop at the Borough Office to check on any current news and advertisements on the bulletin board located right outside of my office in the hallway. A lot of advertisements posted include information from the Strongland Chamber of Commerce.
I will still publish a newsletter for residents who are not able to access this website. They will be available quarterly and will be located in my office, for future reference.
FYI to all residents that there is a payment slot on the Borough Office door for your convenience when I am not available. Quite often, if I am out of the office, I am responding to a fire call, or going to the bank, or post office. If you require change or a receipt, simply make note of it on your envelope or leave a message for me and I will gladly take care of any of your requests!
It is with great happiness to announce that my husband and I are expecting! Please keep an eye out for changes to the Borough Office Hours in the coming months! Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Borough Council wishes to remind all residents to keep their eyes and ears open for any suspicious activity in our town. We ask that everyone gets involved to keep crime away from our homes and families. Please call 911 in the event that you witness a crime happening.
For any garbage inquires or complaints, please call Waste Management's Customer Service @ 724-479-0798.
As a reminder to all residents to please SLOW DOWN in our streets and alleys. It has become a great concern of speeding around town and we are doing what we can to eliminate the problem for the safety of everyone in town. We're asking residents to comply with the stop sign regulations as well as the speed limit signs. It's not worth the citation from the Pennsylvania State Police or a preventable accident from aggressive speeding.
Spring has FINALLY Sprung! Its time to do some spring cleaning in the yard. Please make sure that no grass clippings, sticks, leaves, etc is placed on our streets or sidewalks. Any type of debris on the streets or sidewalks creates a hazard for motorists/pedistrains and has the potential to wash into our catch basins when it rains eventually clogging the pipes. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
